Best Pac-Man Games Ranked: All 34 Browser Variants, Best to Worst
This is not a diplomatic list. Some Pac-Man variants are legitimately great; some are lazy reskins that shouldn't exist. If you're new to browser Pac-Man games and want to know where to start (and what to skip), here's the honest ranking.
How we ranked them
Every game on our directory of 34 Pac-Man games was scored on three things:
- Playability — do the controls feel right, does the maze work, does the game actually load and run?
- Faithfulness to the original — for games claiming to be classic Pac-Man, how close to arcade behavior?
- Fun factor — does the variant add anything genuinely new, or is it just Pac-Man with different colors?
Rankings within each tier are approximate — anything in Tier A is worth your time, anything in Tier D is only worth trying if you're a completionist.
Tier S — Play these first
The 3 essential games. If you've never played browser Pac-Man before, start with any of these.
- 1. Classic Pac — the closest recreation of the 1980 arcade original. If you only play one game on this site, play this one.
- 2. Ms. Tapman — the Ms. Pac-Man homage with four rotating mazes. Widely considered the best sequel to arcade Pac-Man; this browser version does it justice.
- 3. Pacman 3D RTX — the impressive 3D modern remake. Worth playing even if 3D perspectives usually don't work for you. See our Pacman 3D RTX guide.
Tier A — Excellent variants worth exploring
Genuinely good games that add something new to the formula.
- 4. Pacxon — Pac-Man meets Qix. You fill in territory instead of eating dots. Different genre entirely, but brilliantly designed.
- 5. Pacman's Sky — modern open-world approach with adventure elements.
- 6. Anti Pacman — role reversal, you play as a ghost hunting Pac-Man. Great concept, well executed.
- 7. Pacman New Levels — the classic engine with fresh maze designs. Perfect for players who've memorized the original mazes.
- 8. Zombie Pacman — atmospheric horror reskin with genuinely creepy sound design. See our Halloween games roundup.
Tier B — Solid variants for specific tastes
Games that do one thing well but aren't universally appealing.
- 9. Pacmania 3 — isometric perspective with jumping mechanics. Divisive but distinctive.
- 10. Pacman Hell — harder difficulty from level 1. For experienced players only.
- 11. Tapman — the male counterpart to Ms. Tapman. Same engine, single maze.
- 12. Halloween Pac-Man — seasonal reskin, fun in October, forgettable in July.
- 13. Pac Adventure — adventure-style progression with narrative elements.
- 14. Math Man — educational variant where you solve math problems to eat ghosts. Great for kids.
- 15. Pacman Ghost — another play-as-ghost variant (also called Mad Pac).
Tier C — Playable but not memorable
Games that work fine but don't stand out.
- 16. Crunchy Munch — competent but generic Pac-Man clone.
- 17. Pacman Chef — cooking-themed reskin, cute but shallow.
- 18. Pacman Word Hunt — educational word-collection game. Good for teachers, tedious otherwise.
- 19. Pac-Pac — two-player variant, gets fun with a friend.
- 20. Moodie Maze — colorful reskin with mood-based enemies.
- 21. Madpac — underwater theme, decent atmosphere.
- 22. Madpac Rabios — rabbit-themed madpac spinoff.
- 23. Sketch Pacman — hand-drawn visual style. Charming aesthetic, ordinary gameplay.
Tier D — Play only if curious
These exist. They mostly work. Nothing special.
- 24. Pacman Spencer
- 25. Splatman
- 26. Snowman
- 27. Purp
- 28. Flash Pac
- 29. Tazman
- 30. Captain Pacman Adventure
- 31. Pac-Dots (a.k.a. World's Biggest Pacman)
- 32. Sir Coins A Loc
- 34. Cow Cow Run
- 34. Street Robbery
What we look for in a good Pac-Man variant
The best variants either:
- Recreate the original faithfully (Classic Pac, Ms. Tapman)
- Add a genuinely new mechanic that doesn't feel bolted on (Pacxon's territory-fill, Anti Pacman's role reversal)
- Change the setting meaningfully (3D perspective in Pacman 3D RTX, horror atmosphere in Zombie Pacman)
Variants that just change the sprite art without changing anything else — most of Tier D — aren't bad, they're just forgettable.
Recommended playing order for newcomers

- Pacman 3D RTX — experience the modern remake
- Pacxon — see how far the formula can be stretched
- Anti Pacman — the opposite perspective
